Abstract

Fluid therapy can be a pivotal component of the treatment plan for calves with diarrhea, respiratory disease or any other health problem that results in reduced fluid intake or accelerated loss from the body. Daily fluid requirements in health and disease are described. Routes of fluid administration, components of fluid loss and the types of fluid available to resuscitate and rehydrate calves are discussed and applied.
