Abstract

The AABP again sponsored a "Bovine Give-Away" in the form of ten $50.00 prizes. The drawing was made by AABP President, Dr. Don Hudson and the event was organized by Dr. Samuel Hutchins 3rd, Exhibits Manager in collaboration with the exhibitors.

At the opening ceremonies on Wednesday evening, September 28, Dr. George Washington, Past President presented the first AABP Research Assistantship Award to Dr. Terry Lynn Bowersock, a former Wisconsin bovine practitioner.

Dr. Gordon A. Atkins, Calgary, Alberta, Canada was named the 1988 Outstanding Bovine Practitioner of the Year at the Annual Membership Business Luncheon meeting on Saturday, October 1. He is the first Canadian to receive the Award.

At a reception held on Tuesday, February 21, 1989 at the Calgary Convention Centre, Dr. Gordon Atkins, accompanied by his wife, Jo Anne was presented the "Typical of the Best" North American Convention Award.

AABP awards for excellence in preventive veterniary medicine, sponsored by MSD-AGVET division of Merck & Co., Inc., were announced during the annual business meeting on Saturday, October 1.
