Abstract

After years of study, we now have a reasonable understanding of the process of development of diarrhea by enteropathogenic E. coli in a calf. There are still many gaps in our knowledge, but we have a good overview of the processes involved, and it appears that there are two major aspects to the disease problem. One involves colonization of the intestine and the other production of enterotoxins. One really cannot discuss one without the other.
