Abstract

What is one of the most difficult tasks we have to perform as large animal practitioners? Is it correcting a uterine prolapse? How about treating a client's best cow for acute watery mastitis? Or having to recommend euthanasia for a cow with a fractured pelvis? Although all of these are equally difficult, I believe one of the most arduous tasks we face as professionals is charging a fair fee for our services. Gone are the days of an annual billing. The one line ticket of "Visit Cow - $35.00" is also a thing of the past. To determine a professional fee that is fair and equitable to both parties, I have found being "Paid by the Procedure" most satisfactory.
