Abstract

The problem of internal parasites in cattle is more unrpedictable in the Northwest than in geographic areas where clincial disease is the rule rather than the exception. The practitioner in this area is continually confronted with the question .. will treatment provide an economic response?" The answer often is based on information obtained from research done in other regions and frequently may not apply to their conditions. Five examples, ostertagiasis, coccidiosis, fascioliasis, trichomoniasis, and cryptosporidiosis, of regionally important parasitisms will be discussed in this regard. All are often subclinical, all present diagnostic problems and all require different control measures.
