Certified preconditioning (PC) is a positive contribution to the management offeeder beef calves. In spite of some fair criticisms, PC remains a proven tool to reduce post weaning morbidity and mortality. Incorporated into a total herd management effort, PC has often meant the difference between profit and loss. This has been true especially during the last 3-5 years. It is not easy to make a buck in the cow 'n calf business unless all tenets of management are observed.
