Abstract

Supplementation of dietary potassium and sodium at levels above the present N. R.C. recommendations of 0.8% potassium and 0. 18% sodium will result in significantly higher milk yields. Beneficial responses to supplementation of these minerals was observed in both early lactation cows during the winter and heat-stressed cows at all stages of lactation.
