Abstract

In feeding my own herds, and making recommendations for other herds, the following guides are used. The guides are primarily for herds using corn and/or sorghum silage and small grain haylage or silage with limited amounts of hay. The cropping system is so designed to meet all roughage requirements first, and the excess corn, sorghum and small grains are utilized in the grain ration. The dry cow ration should be balanced and fed to work in conjunction with the milking herd ration.
