Abstract

Neospora caninum is a protozoan parasite that was mistaken for Toxoplasma gondii until the mid-1980's. Although it was first identified in dogs, neosporosis has recently been recognized as a major cause of abortion in cattle, particularly dairy cattle, worldwide.
