Abstract

Vacuum fluctuations in the milking machine have been associated with mastitis for many years. Liner slip appears to have an influence in the new infection rate. There are large differences among liners and their slip characteristics. Under the conditions of this trial, liners slipped more during AM milkings than PM milkings and U.S. liners tended to slip more than the European designs.
