Abstract

A 13-year-old, 710-kg, Aberdeen Angus embryo donor cow was presented to the Kansas State University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital with a two-year history of a slow-growing, uterine mass. Tentative diagnosis of a smooth muscle tumour was made by exploratory laparotomy and uterine biopsy. Surgical excision was considered, but not conducted due to tumour size and location. The cow was euthanized and ova harvested for in vitro fertilization. Laboratory examination indicated that three good quality ova were collected. Definitive diagnosis following postmortem examination was uterine leiomyosarcoma.
