Abstract

Even though the average inhabitant of Indonesia had only 0.07 animal units and consumes only 2.5 grams of animal protein per day, animal agriculture is important to both the agricultural and overall economy. The significance of this statement will become clear as we study the farming system in Indonesia along with the purpose of animals in these systems.

Since Indonesia is a new country and is far-removed from the North American continent, it is possible that our understanding would be greater if there were discussions on some general features of Indonesia, such as its location and size, its people, and the total population and density. In addition, there are some distinct breeds in Indonesia, thus it is indicated that the animal genetic resoures be discussed.
