Abstract

This article provides information enabling the veterinary practitioner to decide why and when administration of vitamins is indicated, and how to use them properly. Vitamin sources and functions along with experimentally and clinically proven guidelines about vitamin usage for the neonatal calf are given. Tables on minimal daily requirements, practical daily supplemental levels, suggested prophylactic or supportive therapeutic doses, and reported toxic doses are also presented.
